Tamil Nadu: 1.55 lakh people appointed in government departments

Tamil Nadu: In the last five years, 155,131 candidates have been selected and appointed to positions across government departments, cooperatives, public sector undertakings, and local bodies.

The budget statement states: This government is giving top priority to the welfare of government employees and teachers, who play a vital role in protecting the well-being of the people. The government has resumed the dearness allowance increase, which was frozen from 1.1.2020 to 31.12.2021. Similarly, it has resumed the process of surrendering and encashing earned leave. The marriage advance given to government employees has been increased to ₹5 lakh. Maternity leave for female government employees has been increased from 9 months to 12 months.

Assured Pension Scheme: In addition to this, the government has launched the Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme for government employees, fulfilling a 22-year-old demand. A total of ₹11,000 crore has been allocated as the government’s additional contribution to implement this scheme. Over the past five years, 155,131 candidates have been selected and appointed across all government departments, cooperatives, public sector undertakings, and local bodies. These interim budget estimates allocate ₹155,977 crore for salary and pension expenses.
