Swift action against scrap dealers in Raipur, more than 25 tons of iron scrap seized

Raipur: Under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Raipur Santosh Kumar Singh and the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police City Lakhan Patle, with the aim of curbing the incidents of theft and stopping the business of illegal scrap, the team of police station in-charge and anti-crime anti-cyber unit of the district. On 05.04.23, raids were conducted by different teams of the police force in the scrap yards, warehouses and other places operating under the police station area of the district.

Illegal scrap work was done by conducting raids in scrapyards, warehouses and other places located in police station Dharsiwa, Khamtarai, Urla, D.D.Nagar, Amanaka, Maudhapara, Telibandha, Gudhiyari, New Rajendra Nagar, Pandari, Khamhardih and Gobaranyapara areas. In a total of 44 cases involved, 44 accused were arrested and more than 25 tons of iron scrap and 17 pieces of four-wheeler vehicles worth approximately Rs. 97,00,000/- were seized from their possession. Section 41(1+4) was registered against the accused in the respective police stations. J.F./379 IPC, with the presumption of commission of a cognizable offence, action was taken against the accused under separate restrictive sections and action was also taken against some of the accused under serious sections and the accused were sent to jail.
