Survey reveals, 95% children here have never seen school

Nahan. 95 children in Sirmaur district have not visited school till now. In the survey conducted this year under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, it has been found that there are 95 such children in Sirmaur district, who are in the age group of six to 14 years, who have never gone to school. All these children are from the families of migrant labourers and workers coming from outside. In industrial areas like Kala Amb, Paonta Sahib etc. in Sirmaur district, such migrant workers come to the district with their families to work, in which their children are also included, who help the families in the work. In such a situation, this class is completely dependent on earning livelihood. At the same time, the children of these families do not show interest in fulfilling basic needs like education. In the survey conducted this year under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, 95 children were identified in the district.

Now, under the campaign itself, a non-residential special training center is being started for them. DIET Nahan coordinator Lekhraj told that NRST centers are being started for such children in education blocks Surla, Paonta and Majra, in which all kinds of facilities from TLM, school books, shoes are being provided along with incentives to connect such children to the main stream of education under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, so that children deprived of education can get education. On the other hand, under the new education policy, baseline survey of those students has also started in all education blocks in Sirmaur, which includes school drop out children.
