Surrendered Maoists are getting a new life, engaged in sewing training

Raipur. The Maoist Surrender Relief and Rehabilitation Policy-2025 implemented by the Chhattisgarh government and the ‘Niyad Nella Nar’ scheme specially run for the overall development of the interior villages of Bastar division have paved a new path of development and trust in the Naxal-affected areas. Through the convergence of this scheme, the District Administration Sukma is successfully connecting the surrendered Maoists to the mainstream of the society by connecting them with skill training, rehabilitation and self-employment.

Under this program running under the guidance of Collector Devesh Kumar Dhruv, free training is being provided in various trades in Livelihood College and Rural Self-Employment Training Institute so that surrendered youth and women can become financially self-reliant and live a respectable life in the society.

Rehabilitation center became the beginning of a new path

This scheme has brought a new direction in the lives of surrendered women like Anita Sodi of Konta development block. Anita says that the rehabilitation center made us realize that life can also be lived with peace and respect. Other livelihood trainings including sewing, agriculture have increased our confidence. Now I want to give a better future to my family by starting my own sewing business. Along with Anita, 6 dedicated women including Ms. Vetti Kanni, Hadme Madvi, Kadati Vijje are participating in the one month sewing training being conducted at Livelihood College Sukma. Under the ‘Saksham Yojana’, they will be provided loans ranging from 40 thousand to 2 lakh rupees at 3% interest rate and will also be provided free sewing machines and certificates. 30 teenage girls and women are participating in the training program being conducted at Livelihood College. They are being trained in sewing blouses, dresses, school uniforms and shirt-pants. Along with this, initiatives are also being taken to link them with government schemes by giving information about Noni Suraksha Yojana, Mahtari Vandan Yojana, Saksham Yojana, and Mahila Rin Yojana, which is giving new momentum to women empowerment.

Niyad Nella Nar Yojana is bringing a wave of development and trust in Bastar. So far, 79 surrendered Maoists have been trained in trades like tailoring, agriculture-nursery, driving, masonry and entrepreneurship. From next week, 30 youths will take training in RSETI for mason training. Currently, 42 trainees (21 women) are residing in the rehabilitation center Sukma, who are being linked to skill training gradually.

With the convergence of the scheme, the youth are being shown the path of self-employment by linking them with Chief Minister Skill Development, Saksham, PM Swanidhi, Startup, Agricultural Entrepreneurship and Women Loan Schemes, which is ushering in a new era of employment, respect and development in the interior villages of Bastar. The visionary policy of the Chhattisgarh government and the ‘Niyad Nella Naar’ scheme have proved that when the government reaches out to the people with compassion, opportunity and skill, change is not only possible but is also assured. This Parivartan Yatra of Bastar will lay a permanent foundation of peace, development and prosperity in the times to come.
