Thousands of Tamils as ardent Shiva devotees visit the Somnath temple, the oldest Jyotirlinga in India, every year and this is the reason why Somnath has been chosen as the site of the Saurashtra-Tamil confluence. India has always believed in strengthening mutual relations and our Indian culture is full of diversity. Whatever language we speak, whatever dress we wear, our hearts are bound by the monotony of Indianness.
Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam Program
Such events are aimed not only at cultural bonding but also at the confluence of art, food, artisans, education, literature and sports activities. This program will further strengthen the Saurashtra-Tamil alliance and truly realize the motto of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.
Grand welcome at Surat railway station
A large number of people from Tamil Nadu left for Saurashtra under the Saurashtra Tamil Sangam programme. People traveling from Tamil Nadu to Saurashtra by train were given a grand welcome in Surat. CR at Surat Railway Station Local leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party including Patil and Bharatiya Janata Party workers were present in large numbers. The people of Tamil Nadu were warmly welcomed. The program has been launched under ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ with the objective of giving a strong bond to the Tamils with the people of Saurashtra. About three to five thousand people from Tamil Nadu will come to Saurashtra.
