ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, two of the world’s largest steel makers, has received the prestigious national level steel safety award.
Awarded by Joint Committee on Safety, Health and Environment in Steel Industry (JCSSI) in recognition of the achievement of no fatal accident in AM/NS India during the years 2020-21 and 2021-22 . AM/NS India has been adjudged as the Best Steel Plant in the Steel Plant category for its safety parameters for the seventh consecutive year.
AM/NS honored with India’s Hazira Facility Award
AM/NS India, Hazira has four different zones namely (1) Coal, Coke & Chemical Zone (2) Rolling Mills Zone (3) Blast Furnaces, Slag Granulation Plants, Sinter Plants and Raw-Materials Zone and (4) Steel Melting Shops, Continuous Casting Shops Zone has been awarded Ispat Suraksha Puraskar for the years 2020-21 and 2021-22.
Congratulating the entire team at AM/NS India Hazira for receiving the Steel Safety Award for the seventh year in a row, Mr. Sarang Mahajan, Chief Manager Health & Safety, AM/NS India & Indonesia, said, “Safety of employees at AM/NS India is paramount. Has always been the top priority. Speaking on the occasion, he said that our excellent track record reflects our commitment towards safety. We have implemented various systems and procedures to ensure safety parameters.
JCSSI is a premier national level forum of management and representatives of trade unions from public and private steel companies. The committee has been set up with the primary objective of safeguarding the valuable human resources in the steel industry against possible hazards. JCSSI has instituted Ispat Suraksha Puraskar to recognize the safety performance of plants, specific operational areas and mines/colliers, which have been free from any fatal accident during the specified period of time.
