Uttarakhand | To make Uttarakhand drug-free, a big campaign is being run in schools and colleges by the Government of Uttarakhand. Now students of school-colleges will be given five marks under internal assessment for getting five families to take a pledge to get rid of drugs. On the occasion of World Drug Prohibition Day, in a program organized at Doon Medical College on Monday, Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that everyone will have to make efforts to get rid of drug addiction.
Said that in order to connect students with social life, arrangements have been made for five marks each in NCC, NSS, cultural activities, plantation in internal assessment. Now students working for de-addiction will also be given five marks. Mass awareness campaign is very important to eliminate drug addiction from the society. Effective steps are being taken by the government in this direction. He said that the government has set a target of ‘Drug Free Devbhoomi’ by 2025.
The minister said that when he went to a wedding, the girl’s father told that his daughter got married when she gave up cigarettes. The role of girls can be important in de-addiction, because there are 22 lakh girls in educational institutions. He enumerated plans to increase institutional delivery and leave the mother at home.
7200 school-college tobacco free in Uttarakhand
The Health Minister said that there are 23 thousand schools and colleges in the state. Out of these 7200 have been made tobacco free. Its oath has been administered to 9.82 lakh students. Four per cent people have reduced the consumption of tobacco in Uttarakhand. A program to administer oath to 20 lakh children simultaneously is proposed.
