Amritsar: Tributes were paid to the tenth Guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh on his birth anniversary at DAV Public School, Lawrence Road. He was a great spiritual master, warrior, poet and philosopher. He was the person who institutionalized the Khalsa and worked to protect Sikhism and Hinduism against the Muslim onslaught of Aurangzeb. Students recited Shabad to invoke God’s blessings for the prosperous year ahead. He also read poems and articles based on the Guru’s teachings and philosophy. They talked about his ideals, values and ideology and resolved to follow the path shown by him. School Principal Pallavi Sethi greeted the students, staff and advised them to spread the message of service to humanity on this special day.
Khalsa College for Women
The NSS department of Khalsa College for Women (KCW) organized a seven-day camp here. After making the volunteers aware about the importance of NSS department, the students were taken to the adopted village Kot Khalsa. Various activities were carried out by the volunteers on the first day of the camp which included cleanliness of the village and healthy interaction with the villagers. The students educated the village women about the importance of health and hygiene in life as healthy and clean life can save their family members from various health problems. The volunteers along with NSS program officers and other staff members also visited Gurudwara Bohri Sahib, which is located in the same village.
