Takhatpur. Bilaspur police arrested Ashutosh Chaitanya Maharaj, a storyteller who made controversial statements about the Satnami community, from the venue of the Katha today and took him to Bilaspur. Angered by the controversial statement made by the storyteller from the stage, members of the Satnami community surrounded the Takhatpur police station demanding action.
It should be noted that during the ongoing Srimad Bhagwat Katha Mahapuran in Tikri Para, Takhatpur, storyteller Ashutosh Chaitanya Maharaj made objectionable remarks about the Satnami community, which quickly went viral on social media. Upon learning of this, members of the community became enraged. They surrounded the Takhatpur police station demanding action against the storyteller. Given the situation, a large police force had to be deployed at the station. Given the seriousness of the matter, on the instructions of the Additional Superintendent of Police, charges were added against the storyteller under Section 353 (2) of the Indian Penal Code and the SC/ST Act.
Additional Superintendent of Police Archana Jha, after a preliminary investigation into the objections of the Satnami community, informed the court that an FIR had been filed against the narrator under Section 353 (2) of the IPC. She assured that a proper investigation would be conducted and legal action would be taken. She also appealed to the community to maintain peace.
