Startups are getting support from Government e-marketplace, innovation ecosystem has become stronger

New Delhi: Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is supporting the country’s startups through government procurement and promoting innovation and growth. This information was given by the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Sunday.

Recently ‘Startup Maha Kumbh 2025’ has ended and startup entrepreneurs of the country participated in it on a large scale, which shows the growing startup ecosystem in the country. As a strategic partner, GeM worked with various startups, investors, policymakers and industry leaders during this event.

The Union Ministry said that their participation reflects the ongoing effort to support the growth of Indian startups by facilitating access to government markets, encouraging new opportunities and contributing to the broader vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. The event showcases India’s potential in deeptech, agritech, biotech, medtech, artificial intelligence, gaming among other areas.
GEM aims to bridge the gap between innovators and government buyers, helping them scale faster, gain market recognition and strengthen India’s innovation ecosystem. “Let us all work together and harness the true potential of government procurement to drive inclusive growth of startups and Aatmanirbhar Bharat,” said Ajay Bhadoo, CEO, GEM.

Logistics Industry Prosperity Index sees growth in March

During the three-day event, GEM responded to over 2,500 startup queries, facilitated over 1,000 startup registrations and cataloguing. Over 70 innovative startups participated in GEM’s pavilion, including 30 startup pods provided free of cost to the winners of GEM’s ‘Start-O-Knots Challenge’.

GEM has enabled transactions worth over Rs 38,500 crore for over 30,000 startups so far, strengthening its position in India’s innovation ecosystem.
