Chennai (IANS) | Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday laid the foundation stone of the Porunai Museum through video conferencing from his office at the Secretariat on International Museum Day. The Government of Tamil Nadu has allotted 13.02 acres of land for the Porunai Museum.
In the first phase, the museum will be built in an area of 55 thousand square feet at a cost of Rs 33 crore. The museum, to be built with world-class standards, will display 2,617 rare artefacts collected from Adichanallur, Korkai and Sivakalai.
Stalin also launched two books ‘Tamizh Natta Panipatta Marabugal’ and ‘Pudukottai Vattaram’ during the event.
State Public Works Minister EV Velu, Finance and Archeology Minister Thangam Thennarasu and State Chief Secretary V. Irai Ambu were present during the ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s Office at the Secretariat.
