Bhubaneswar: The Twin City Commissionerate Police has reportedly arrested a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) constable on charges of running a job scam and duping several job aspirants.
The arrested constable has been identified as Patitapaban Pati (40). Two of his associates namely Pabitra Mohan Behera and Amiya Kumar Mantri were also arrested along with him.
Apart from arrested the trio, the Airport Police also seized cash of Rs 4,00,000, 1 Hero Honda Passion motorcycle, 1 Hyundai Creta car, 2 mobile phones, 1 passbook and HSC and other educational certificates of job aspirant candidates from their possessions.
Based on the written report of the complainant Sajan Kumar Sahu, police registered Airport P.S. Case No.312 dated 17.09.2025 U/s 318(4)/3(5) BNS and initiated an investigation. During the investigation, the accused were arrested and produced in court.
It is noteworthy that the accused Patitapaban had taken Rs 5 lakh and educational certificates from the complainant by promising to provide a job through his accomplice Pabitra Mohan Behera. But as neither the job was arranged nor the money and certificates were returned, the complainant filed a complaint in this regard at the police station.
During the investigation, the accused were arrested on the basis of reliable information and during the search and interrogation, they confessed their guilt.
Further investigation revealed that the accused Pati, along with his associates, had formed a job racket to collect money and certificates from job aspirants by giving false promises of providing jobs in various government departments. The accused are active members of an organised job fraud racket operating in various districts of Odisha.
Further investigation into the case is currently underway to identify and arrest other accomplices of the racket and to trace other victims of job fraud.
