Srinagar, (IANS) The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a charge sheet in a major land fraud case, remanding two accused to judicial custody, officials said today. The charge sheet, presented before the Special Judge Anti-Corruption Court in Anantnag, names Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, son of Ali Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Babapora Kazigund (then Patwari Halka Khandi Pahari Anantnag), and Mohammad Yusuf Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmed Dar, a resident of Khandi Pahari Harnag, Anantnag.
According to officials, the case stems from a complaint alleging that Patwari Mushtaq Bhat, in connivance with the complainant’s brothers, fraudulently mutated land under Khewat Nos. 05 and 07 in Khandi Pahari Harnag. The land was under litigation, and the status order issued by the court is clearly reflected in the revenue records. Despite this, the Patwari allegedly concealed important information, facilitated the illegal sale of a portion of the land, and prepared fraudulent mutations.
Investigators also found that co-accused Mohammad Yusuf Dar obtained a fake and forged gift deed, allegedly executed by his mother. Those identified as false witnesses denied any knowledge of the transaction. The complainant further alleged that the Patwari demanded money in exchange for a copy of the revenue extract, and despite repeated complaints to senior revenue officials, no action was taken.
