Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple Brahmotsavam begins in Elanthakunta Mandal

Karimnagar: The annual Brahmotsavam (Jatra) of the Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy Temple in Elanthakunta mandal began on a grand scale with special pujas in Huzurabad, Karimnagar district, on Wednesday morning.

The 13-day festival, which will continue until April 6, began with traditional rituals, with thousands of devotees gathering to worship the self-manifested idols at the historic temple.

Located in the Elanthakunta mandal, this temple holds immense historical and spiritual significance. Legend has it that during the Treta Yuga, Lord Rama, along with Sita Devi and Lakshmana, stayed at this place during their exile. It is believed that Rama performed the last rites of his father, King Dasharatha, here. The village’s name, “Elanthakunta,” is said to have come from the Elanda trees used in the rituals. According to the temple administration, the festival’s most prominent event, Sri Sitarama Kalyanam, will be held on Friday, March 27, at 12 noon, followed by the Pattabhishekam on Saturday, March 28, at 11 am. Other events include Surya Rathotsavam on April 2, Chandra Rathotsavam on the night of April 3, Pushpayagam on April 5, and Ekantha Seva on April 6.

Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar recently launched the official poster for the Brahmotsavam and was invited by temple officials to witness the celebrations.

Temple officials have arranged for medical facilities, uninterrupted power supply, and drinking water for devotees. Special RTC bus services are being operated from Karimnagar, Hanamkonda, Huzurabad, Godavarikhani, and Mancherial for the convenience of pilgrims.
