Chhattisgarh: Irrigation has become easy in the district with the help of Solar Pumps by Electricity Development Agency (CREDA) Department of Bastar Kanker of Chhattisgarh. Solar pumps are going to irrigate the fields of hundreds of farmers. These directly solar pumps have improved the economic condition of the farmers. Saur Sujala schemes have been effective in giving more autonomy to the farmers. Running on solar pumps, farmers can now cultivate maize, vegetables and other alternatives, doubling both the irrigated area of the district and their source of income. Under this scheme, the state government aims to strengthen agriculture and rural areas in Chhattisgarh by providing irrigation facilities to farmers at a subsidized rate.

Similarly, farmer Ramkumar Kashyap of Mussurputta village of Narharpur development block uses the Saur Sujala scheme to irrigate his fields. He said that his farm is in a hilly area, making it impossible to reach the power line. In the absence of irrigation, he subsisted on traditional rainfed farming. When he heard about the Saur Sujala schemes, he built his land on three horse power solar pumps from which he irrigated his fields and produced paddy, maize, pulses, oilseeds and other crops like tomato, bitter gourd and bottle gourd . , , , As a result, they make a good living.
