Smart meter scam: BJP complains to the Governor

Karnataka : The BJP has alleged that not only is there looting in broad daylight through smart meters, but injustice is also being done to consumers. In this regard, the BJP has complained to Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot on Wednesday. A BJP delegation led by Leader of Opposition R Ashok and CN Ashwath Narayan met the Governor on Wednesday and complained to him to direct the government to conduct a proper investigation into the scam. Later, while talking to reporters, BJP leader Ashwath Narayan said, “We have discussed the smart meter scam with the Governor. Consumers are being mistreated in this scam. Thousands of crores of rupees are being looted. We have drawn the attention of the Governor that the Energy Department and officials are involved in this.” We have complained to the Lokayukta with documents regarding this illegality. No FIR has been registered yet. The Lokayukta has been reminded again in this regard. The Energy Minister and other officials have violated the law by giving contracts by misusing their position. He said that the smart meter scam, which was a case of misuse of power and daylight robbery, has been planned to be taken to its logical conclusion. Making smart meters compulsory despite there being no provision in the laws of the State Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Central Electricity Commission is the first violation. Here the price is expensive. Ineligible contractors have been given the contract. We have brought the violation of law and misuse of power to the notice of the Hon’ble Governor. He said that he is confident that more information will come to light after a thorough investigation of the gold smuggling case.
