Car manufacturer Skoda is likely to bring diesel engine in India and the automaker has teased that in the Auto Expo 2025. This is the first diesel engine that the car manufacturer has showcased after 5 years. The Skoda Superb that was put on display was offered with 2.0 diesel engine that generates 193hp of maximum power and 400Nm of peak torque.
The reason behind the new strategy of re-introducing diesel engine comes from the mind-set of the Indian customers. According to Skoda India head Petr Janeba, Indian customers purchased up to 80 percent of Skoda diesel cars before the implementation of stricter BS6 norms. This decision by Skoda does not surprise us as manufacturers like Hyundai, Kia, Tata and Mahindra still offer diesel engines (and are successful too). It seems that Skoda is eyeing to meet the demand of customers who prefer diesel cars.
If you are wondering why users prefer a diesel engine over petrol counterpart, the answer is quite simple. Diesel engines are quite efficient and offer more torque. The other important aspect that cannot be missed is the low running cost and lots of pulling power. The new Skoda diesel engines offer better figures when it comes to CO2 emissions.
