Six members of Kapil Sangwan gang arrested in BJP leader Surendra Matiala murder case

New Delhi (IANS) | The Delhi Police has arrested six members of the Kapil Sangwan gang, including two minors, in connection with the murder of city BJP leader Surendra Matiala in Delhi’s Dwarka on April 14. An official gave this information on Saturday. The accused have been identified as Sohit alias Sachin (25), Yogesh Kumar (30), residents of Bahadurgarh in Haryana, Arun Chand (19) and Deepak Berwa (19), residents of Palam Colony, Delhi.

On 14 April, two unidentified men entered the office of Surendra, the district president of the Najafgarh Kisan Morcha of the BJP unit, and opened fire on him, killing him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M Harshvardhan said several CCTV cameras were analyzed to identify the culprits and the team zeroed in on four suspects, two of whom had fired at the deceased, while the other two were also found riding a bike near the spot. were present at

The DCP said, a bike was found stolen from Dwarka South area. A team also started analyzing the CCTV footage of the place from where the said bike was stolen, from which Arun, Deepak and the two teenagers were identified.

Human intelligence and technical surveillance revealed that absconding criminal Kapil Sangwan was the main conspirator of the murder.

The DCP said, Sangwan conspired with Rohit to commit this murder. Rohit roped in his brother Sohit, Yogesh and others in the entire conspiracy. Rohit also allegedly roped in two criminals from Rajasthan to execute the incident.

Sohit was caught by the police after the raid. He had played a key role in the conspiracy, he said. Four other accused Arun, Deepak and two minors were nabbed. Later, the main shooter Yogesh Kumar was arrested from Chandigarh on the intervening night of 20-21 April. A sophisticated pistol and five bullets have been recovered from his possession.

The DCP claimed that absconding criminal Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu did this desperate act to register his presence in the area and revive his dwindling group as most of his associates are in jail under MCOCA.
