SIT formed to investigate the murder of an elderly couple in Ujjain.

Ujjain: A shocking incident has come to light in Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh, where an elderly couple was murdered in their house, a police officer said on Saturday. The incident took place in Piploda Dwarkadhish village under Narwar police station of the district. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and registered a case and formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the matter. According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Ramniwas Kumawat (65) and his wife Munni Kumawat.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Sachin Sharma said, “An elderly couple were sleeping alone in their house in Piploda Dwarkadhish village under Narwar police station and their bodies were found in a room on Saturday morning. “Police have secured the incident site and forensics.” Science Laboratory (FSL) team has reached the spot.” Evidence is being collected from the spot.

SIT has also been formed to investigate the case and arrest the accused. Sharma said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the couple died due to stabbing and strangulation. “Police have registered a case against the unidentified under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 397 (robbery with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) as the cupboards and drawers were also in disarray. “Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.” The officer further said.
