Kolkata: The personnel involved in relief and rescue operations in the warehouse accident in Taratala area were honored on Saturday. This program was organized by Kolkata Police, in which West Bengal Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari honored the rescue workers and appreciated their work. The Chief Minister said that in this accident that took place on June 24, many agencies worked together in excellent coordination, due to which the lives of many people could be saved. A total of 16 people died in the accident, while 17 people were injured. He said that after learning from such incidents, construction and building safety rules are now being strictly monitored. He appreciated the efforts of Kolkata Police, fire department, emergency services, Railways, Army, NDRF and medical teams. The Chief Minister said that coordination of all agencies is very important in an emergency, and the Taratala accident proved that working together can save lives even in the biggest disasters. Addressing the rescue workers, the Chief Minister said that together they succeeded in saving the lives of 17 people, which is a big achievement. He also expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the Army and NDRF. The Chief Minister also praised the role of the local people, who started relief work immediately after the accident. He said that the contribution of the youth and local citizens of Taratala is commendable and he would soon visit the area and thank them personally. Minister Agnimitra Paul, Chief Secretary Manoj Aggarwal and many senior officials were present in the program. The Chief Minister said that to prevent such incidents in future, all departments will have to be more alert and ensure strict adherence to safety standards.
