Shock to Kejriwal’s party in Surat Municipal Corporation, six councilors join BJP

Surat . Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a major setback in Surat Municipal Corporation. Six councilors of the party have joined the BJP. Prior to this, four councilors were associated with the BJP. Kejriwal’s party had 27 councilors elected in the 120-member Municipal Corporation. Now only 17 are left in his court. Five more councilors can join BJP anytime.

On Friday night, all the six councilors were dressed in BJP uniforms at the BJP office in Surat’s Udhna in the presence of Minister of State Praful Panseria, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi and office bearers of Surat Metropolitan BJP. Those who joined BJP include Dharmendra Wavaliya Ward 4, Ghanshyam Makwana Ward 4, Kiran Khokhani Ward 5, Ashok Dhami Ward 5, Swati Kayada Ward 17, Nirali Patel Ward 5. Earlier, Ruta Kheni Ward 3, Jyotikaben Lathia Ward 8, Bhavnaben Solanki Ward 2, Vipulbhai Mowlia Ward 16 had joined BJP. Leader of the Opposition Dharmendra Bhanderi has alleged that the BJP is adopting the policy of equal-price-punishment-discrimination.
