Srinagar (IANS) | Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde wants to build ‘Maharashtra Bhavan’ in Kashmir. For the purpose of completing his dream project, CM Shinde has requested the Jammu and Kashmir administration to provide land. The Maharashtra government believes that this step will strengthen human relations. During his visit to Kashmir last week, Eknath Shinde had proposed the construction of Maharashtra Bhavan during his meeting with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. Maharashtra government has also written a letter related to this.
In the letter written to the Lieutenant Governor, the increasing tourism and cultural activities in Jammu and Kashmir have been cited. It is also mentioned that such an effort will promote social and economic activities between the people of both the sides.
The ‘Maharashtra Bhawan’ will not only provide accommodation to tourists from the state visiting there, but will also give a glimpse of our art, culture and food to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This building will become a major center for students, businessmen and senior officials, which will also strengthen the relations between Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Maharashtra government has assured that ‘if land is made available to them, Maharashtra Bhawan will be constructed keeping in mind the culture and environment of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sanjay Nahar, the founder of the famous NGO ‘Sarhad’ on this whole matter says that his organization had also made a similar proposal ten years ago. But, his proposal was shelved. It was said at that time that if their demand is fulfilled, then other states can also make such demands.
Talking to IANS, Sanjay Nahar said that we are ready for our project even today. Our only condition is that the responsibility of maintaining and running the possible ‘Maharashtra Bhavan’ to be built in Kashmir should be given to the Muslim youth of Kashmir.
The BJP, which is supporting the Shinde government in Maharashtra, has also welcomed the move. According to BJP leaders, the construction of ‘Maharashtra Bhavan’ in Kashmir will further improve the state’s relations with Jammu and Kashmir.
