Shimla: Officials said the fire in Shimla was caused by short circuit

Shimla: Several houses were destroyed in a fire in Jubbal sub-division of Shimla district due to short circuit, according to the state emergency operations centre. The number of families left without homes has increased from seven to 10, officials said Tuesday. He said property loss has been estimated at Rs 50 lakh and immediate relief of Rs 15,000 has been given to the affected families. The fire, which broke out around 1 am on the night of 31 December and 1 January, completely destroyed 10 of the 80 wooden rooms in the house. However, no loss of human or cattle life was recorded. Seven tanker trucks from fire stations of Jubbal, Rohru, Chirgaon and Kotkhai reached the spot and within six hours they were successful in controlling the llamas.
