Himachal Pradesh: Auckland House School for Boys organized a large Basic Life Support (BLS) training session for its teachers and students. The objective was to provide participants with the life-saving skills and practical knowledge needed to effectively handle medical emergencies on the school campus. The session was conducted under the guidance of Anuradha, supported by Priyanka and Shweta, who provided detailed demonstrations along with hands-on practical training. Beyond theoretical understanding, the workshop focused on real-time simulations to enhance participants’ confidence, awareness, and quick decision-making. During the training session, students and teachers were taught about immediate response and care in cases of unconsciousness, recognizing the need for CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), step-by-step CPR demonstrations, and supervised practice until professional help arrives. They were also trained on controlling external bleeding, handling penetrating objects without causing further injury, how to respond to amputations, proper nosebleed management, recognizing signs of internal injuries, and effective response during choking incidents. Anuradha said this is the first initiative of its kind at the school, supported by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening the institution’s safety framework. She added that teaching teachers and young students practical emergency skills is an important step towards building a culture of preparedness. Principal Reuben John praised the initiative, saying, “In today’s world, it is crucial to build awareness, resilience, and life-saving skills among our students and staff. This kind of practical training helps our community respond responsibly to difficult situations.”
