Sharad Pawar resigns in the morning, agrees to ‘rethink’ in the evening

New Delhi. On Tuesday, six hours after Sharad Pawar resigned from the post of Nationalist Congress Party president, he quoted his nephew Ajit Pawar as saying that he would “reconsider” it and announce his final decision. Ajit Pawar told media persons, “We all leaders have met him and convinced him on this issue. Pawar saheb has agreed to reconsider. Let’s give them 2-3 days to take their decision.”

Ajit Pawar said that the work of the party will continue as usual and nobody’s resignation will be accepted. Sharad Pawar and other leaders again appealed to all their party workers sitting near YB Chavan Auditorium and other parts of the state to call off all their protests and go home peacefully.
On stepping down, 82-year-old Pawar, accompanied by wife Pratibha, said, “I know when to stop… I have formed a committee of senior NCP leaders, which will decide on the next president.” Let us tell you that people have been shocked by this announcement in politics. Many people burst into tears at the incident and in his support, many party workers appealed to Pawar to withdraw his decision as the country needed him.
