Senior Congress leader Kagodu Thimmappa’s daughter joins BJP in Karnataka

Shivamogga (IANS) | Senior Congress leader Kagodu Thimmappa’s daughter and KPCC general secretary Rajnandini joined the BJP on Wednesday. This is a major setback for the Congress ahead of the May 10 assembly elections in Karnataka. Rajnandini wanted a ticket from Sagar constituency in Shivamogga district and had applied for it. However, the Congress party gave ticket to Gopalakrishna Belur, after which he distanced himself from the Congress.

After joining the BJP, Rajnandini said that she was a functionary and hoped that the Congress party would recognize her efforts over the years.

He said- The Congress party cut the ticket of an educated backward class woman. Someone recognized me and greeted me warmly. I am a worker. I will work anywhere My father has been working for the party since 1978-79. Due to age, they withdrew the name and asked for ticket for me. His wishes were never respected. Now, I have made my decision.

Before joining the BJP, Rajnandini met Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and BJP Central Parliamentary Committee member B.S. Yeddyurappa and held talks.

On his daughter joining BJP, Thimmappa said that he never thought that his daughter would do something like this. He said, I am happy to work with the ideology of the Congress party. I am saddened by my daughter’s decision.

He said, BJP MLA Hartalu Halappa is behind this step of my daughter. I will talk to him.
