Imphal: Central security forces and Manipur Police commandos have arrested an accomplice involved in a bomb explosion at a fuel station in Moirang Thana Leikai, Bishnupur district, officials said on Friday.
The arrest follows the earlier apprehension of an underground cadre alleged to have links with the Group of Five (G-5), an alliance of five proscribed outfits.
According to the Manipur Police morning bulletin issued on Friday, Pukhrambam Bimol Meitei, also known as Inaobi (41), a resident of Wangoo Sabal Mayai Leikai in Kakching district, was arrested from Lamphel Sana Keithel under Lamphel police station in Imphal West district on January 14, 2026.
Police said the arrestee is an accomplice in the explosion that took place at the Elidas Fuel Station in Moirang Thana Leikai, Bishnupur district, on January 8, 2026. He is the second person arrested in connection with the bomb attack case.
From his possession, security forces recovered an SMG carbine along with four magazines containing 107 live rounds.
A 9 mm pistol with one magazine and five live rounds was also seized. In addition, two 36 HE hand grenades along with two detonators were recovered, besides a two-wheeler, a Honda Activa.
Earlier, joint security forces arrested Hijam Manichandra Singh (35), a resident of Waikhong Chingdong Leikai in Kakching district, from the Komnao Makha Leikai area under Waikhong police station in the same district.
He is an active cadre of the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL), an alliance partner of the five underground groups collectively known as G-5.
Police said the duo was involved in causing the explosion at the Elidas Fuel Station in Moirang Thana Leikai, Bishnupur district, on the night of January 8, 2026.
