Rajasthan. SDM has been arrested red handed by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) while taking bribe of Rs 2 lakh and expensive dinner set in exchange for implementing the court order in Jhunjhunu. SDM had first demanded 20 bighas of land in bribe, but later asked for five lakh rupees. When the victim expressed his inability in this also, an agreement was reached on three lakh rupees.
ACB’s special unit took action in Jhunjhunu on Tuesday and arrested Banshidhar Yogi (RAS) while taking bribe. He was working as a subdivision officer in Khetri, Jhunjhunu. ACB Director General Dr. Ravi Prakash Mehrada said that the Jaipur unit has taken action on the complaint given by a complainant, in which the accused Banshidhar Yogi (RAS) first demanded 20 bighas of land in his name in exchange for getting the decree given by the court in his favor in the land dispute implemented. When the complainant expressed his inability to do so, he was harassed by demanding a bribe of Rs 5 lakh. On the request of the complainant, the accused agreed to take a bribe of Rs 3 lakh.
In this case, under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of ACB Jaipur Anil Kayal, the Special Unit of Jaipur conducted a trap operation in Jhunjhunu and arrested the Sub-Divisional Officer red handed while taking Rs 2 lakh and a costly dinner set as bribe from the complainant. During the verification of the complaint by the accused SDM, Rs 1 lakh was also collected as bribe from the complainant. Interrogation and action against the accused is going on under the supervision of Additional Director General of ACB Smita Srivastava. ACB has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the matter and further action is being taken.
