Hyderabad: “India’s GDP has grown 30 percent in the last 10 years. Science is the driving force in the development of the society and it is our responsibility to provide solutions to the upcoming challenges,” Dr Vijay Kumar Saraswat, former Director General of DRDO and member of NITI Aayog, said on Friday.
Speaking on the last day of the 107th Foundation Day celebrations of Osmania University at the Tagore Auditorium of the university, he said, “I am proud to have studied in Osmania University. We need to increase the research conducted by industries and laboratories in collaboration with academic institutions for the overall development of the country and to overcome the challenges.
In his address, Telangana Principal Education Secretary Burra Venkatesham appreciated the contribution of Osmania University to the educational landscape of Telangana. “Academic institutions empower communities and bring about social change through quality education and research. We as a society earn respect only through academic excellence, research and skills,” he said.
“Students can excel in their chosen field by nurturing their natural interests,” said Veena Gundavelly, CEO of Amagia Corporation. He advised the students to think and plan towards creating their own resources.
OU Vice-Chancellor Professor D. Ravinder emphasized the university’s rich heritage and ongoing commitment towards academic excellence and social impact. Registrar Prof. P. Lakshminarayana highlighted the important role of Osmania University in shaping the intellectual and cultural landscape of Telangana State.
Osmania University organized its three-day foundation day celebration “Taksh” at the campus campus, which included cultural programmes, alumni conference and open day functions in the colleges and departments of the campus.
