Kerala: The minister said that the government will consider providing assistance to the Kayamkulam Deva Sanchara Natya Samiti. The government is taking steps to provide more financial assistance to the dependents of the deceased. CR said in the assembly that the government will consider the matter of giving assistance to the Natya Samiti in case of damage to the vehicle and contents of the Natya Samiti. The minister responded to the request raised by Mahesh. Two theatre artists died in Kannur due to an accident in a theatre vehicle on November 15, 2024. 12 other members of the Samiti were injured. Rs 25,000 will be given as emergency financial assistance to the families of the deceased drama artist Anjali Ullas and JC Mohan from the Cultural Workers Welfare Fund Board.
On the same day, it was announced that the government will fully bear the medical expenses of the injured. As the Culture Minister, I spoke to the officials of Kannur Baby Memorial Hospital. The hospital officials assured that the medical expenses will not be taken from the theatre workers and they will be given the best treatment. The total hospital bill is Rs 8,50,845. It was reduced from Rs 1,50,845 to Rs 7 lakh by the officials of Baby Memorial Hospital. Out of this, Rs 2,94,459 has been sanctioned. The government has issued an order to sanction the remaining Rs 4,05,541. He replied that the government has ensured that the injured do not have to bear the cost of treatment in the hospital.
