Salesforce: We’re heading towards an incredible moment in India
Business: Salesforce Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff has said that the world is entering the “Age of India”, reflecting India’s growing importance in the global economy. According to PTI, Benioff spoke at Salesforce’s annual ‘Dreamforce’ event held in San Francisco from September 17 to 19 and discussed the company’s opportunities in India, where Salesforce is investing heavily. “I see the world entering the age of India. There’s no doubt that we’re going to have a great moment in India.”
Salesforce, headquartered in San Francisco, has forecast revenues of $38 billion by 2025. The company currently employs over 11,000 people in India, most of whom serve the company’s global customers. However, the report said that the adoption of digital technologies is also driving growth in Salesforce’s operations in India. “We do all kinds of work in India, including engineering and support, but we are also expanding in the Indian market,” Benioff said. He added that the company serves large domestic clients such as the Bajaj Group. Benioff also praised Arundhati Bhattacharya, the former head of State Bank of India and current head of Salesforce’s Indian operations. He remarked: “Shri Arundhati is a great leader. She comes from the banking industry… We are very fortunate to have her leading our business.” Despite the rapid expansion, Salesforce has not announced any specific business development targets for India or details on expanding its workforce in India.
