Tamil Nadu: A new initiative aimed at strengthening women’s safety has launched the “Lioness Special Task Force” project in Salem, Tamil Nadu. City Police Commissioner Anil Kumar Giri formally launched the project on Thursday, and patrolling activities commenced.
This initiative is being described as part of a comprehensive plan designed to address women’s safety and drug abuse. Tamil Nadu Victory Party leader and Chief Minister Joseph Vijay had previously announced the formation of special task forces to strengthen women’s safety and combat drug abuse in the state. The “Lioness Special Task Force” and “Anti-Narcotics Special Force” were also planned in this direction.
The task force formed under this project in Salem will be directly supervised by the Metropolitan Police Commissioner. The team comprises four members, including Assistant Police Inspector Arulmozhi, a Special Police Assistant Inspector, and a female head constable, under the supervision of Assistant Police Commissioner Ramali Ramalakshmi of the Suramangalam Police.
The police administration has also provided the team with necessary resources, including four-wheeled vehicles, cameras, and other modern equipment. These facilities are intended to enhance the team’s efficiency and strengthen surveillance.
The primary function of the Lioness Special Task Force is to identify areas where crime is more likely to occur. Additionally, the team will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment for women in public spaces, monitoring suspicious activities, and taking immediate action.
According to police officials, the team will take prompt action on crimes against women and illegal activities. It will also work to raise awareness and improve security by involving various sections of society.
This initiative is considered a significant step in the field of women’s safety, further strengthening security in urban areas. The local administration believes that such specialized units can play an effective role in controlling crime and will help create a safe environment for women.
With the launch of this new task force in Salem, the police administration has expressed hope that it will yield positive results in the future and improve women’s safety.
