Russia has no plans to deploy nuclear weapons in space: Putin

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a meeting with members of the country’s Security Council that Russia has no plans to deploy nuclear weapons in space. “We have already discussed false allegations being made by some Western officials about our alleged plans to deploy nuclear weapons in space,” the Kremlin said on Friday, citing the president. In his annual State of the Nation address on Thursday, Putin termed such allegations as “baseless” and “fake”, Xinhua news agency reported. This statement comes after Western media reports claimed that US intelligence data showed that Russia is preparing to deploy nuclear weapons in space.
