Sikkim: A special “Rural Happiness Program” was organized by the Art of Living Foundation in Manebong Shimphok, Uteri region of Sikkim. The program’s primary objective was to improve the overall health of people in rural areas and strengthen community cohesion.
The initiative was organized by Art of Living volunteer Zangmu Sherpa. Teachers Kalpana Subba, Meena Sharma, and Dr. Sandeep MK played a key role in the program’s implementation and training. The program saw active participation from local villagers, representing people of various age groups.
The Rural Happiness Program introduced participants to activities related to mental and physical health. Sessions included yoga, pranayama, meditation, and stress management. According to the organizers, these practices aimed to help people maintain balance in everyday life and achieve mental peace.
The program also emphasized community cooperation and mutual understanding. Participants were encouraged to communicate and work together through group activities. This sought to foster better relationships and a spirit of cooperation among the villagers.
Team members explained that rural areas often lack resources related to health and mental well-being. In such circumstances, programs like these teach people simple and practical ways to improve their quality of life. Participants also found the program useful and said they had the opportunity to learn new things.
One of the objectives of this initiative was to inspire the rural community to become self-reliant. The organizers encouraged people to adopt a positive attitude in their daily lives, reduce stress, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
At the end of the program, participants shared their experiences and expressed that such activities were new and useful for them. Many expressed their desire for similar programs in the future.
This event not only increased health awareness but also strengthened relationships by bringing together community members. This initiative of Art of Living Foundation is being seen as a step towards positive change in rural areas.
