Ranchi: During checking of vehicles late on Wednesday night on GT Road in Giridih district of Jharkhand, Rs 1 crore nine lakh was seized from a passenger bus. Giridih SP Deepak Kumar Sharma has confirmed this. It is feared that this amount was to be used to influence the election work. The bus from which the money was recovered was going from Gaya in Bihar to Kolkata. According to the SP, they had received information that a huge amount of money was being carried in the passenger bus. On this basis the flying squad team was alerted. During checking at a place called Aura in Bagodar police station area, Rs 1 crore nine lakh was seized from a passenger bus named Maharani. This information has been given to the Income Tax Department. In the last 10 days in Jharkhand, the police have seized a total amount of about Rs 2 crore in different districts. With the announcement of Lok Sabha elections, Model Code of Conduct is in force in the entire country and during this period there is a ban on carrying cash of more than Rs 50 thousand.
