Rohtak admn to appoint progressive farmers as brand ambassadors

To promote modern and profitable farming methods, the district administration in Rohtak has decided to appoint progressive farmers from each village as brand ambassadors.
The aim of this initiative is to encourage farmers to adopt new technologies, diversify their farming practices, and maximize the benefits of various government schemes to increase productivity and income.
Officials from the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department have been directed to identify progressive farmers who, in addition to traditional farming, are earning substantial income from agricultural activities such as dairy, horticulture, fisheries, and value addition.
Disclosing this initiative, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that the concerned officials have been instructed to prepare detailed case studies of the selected farmers and properly document their success stories.
He said, “Lectures by these farmers will be organized in villages to spread awareness. Furthermore, they will be publicly honored for their achievements. Regular awareness programs will also be conducted to help farmers take advantage of various government schemes and increase their income while reducing input costs.” The DC also directed Krishi Vigyan Kendra officials to provide full cooperation to progressive farmers engaged in research and innovation.
Emphasizing sustainable practices, Gupta directed officials to take measures to prevent soil erosion and maintain soil health. He said, “Soil conservation is essential to maintain the productive capacity of agricultural land. Farmers should get their soil and water tested to determine the most suitable and profitable crops for their fields.”
On development initiatives, the DC said that a ₹2 crore agriculture project has been prepared for the Kalanaur area and sent to headquarters for approval. Additionally, work is underway on a vertical drainage system to provide a permanent solution to waterlogging affecting approximately 500 acres of agricultural land in Madodhi village.
Gupta also directed Fisheries Department officials to conduct regular testing of pond water quality and expedite the auction process for the remaining panchayat ponds to promote fish farming in the district.
