Road repair work will be done on war footing

Deputy Chief Minister and Public Works Minister Arun Saw reviewed the works of the Public Works Department in the districts of the division at Bilaspur divisional headquarters. He directed to do the road repair work with top priority. For this, he asked to issue work orders by October 10 and start work from October 15 at any cost. Deputy Chief Minister Saw held a marathon meeting of the engineers of the Public Works Department for about three hours. In the meeting, he told the officials not to just sit in the office. Spend more than half the time in the field. Inspect the works closely. Take care of the quality and deadlines. He said that when you yourself determine the deadline and quality for the construction works, then it is also your responsibility to ensure that it is followed. You should be in the driving seat of every project, not any contractor or anyone else. He stressed that any kind of laxity in work will not be tolerated. PWD works will not be done like 20 years ago. He instructed to complete all construction works on time. Delays lead to complications. Saw said that there is a provision to give bonus in the department for completing big works before time. So far no one has claimed for it. Deputy Chief Minister Saw said that the government does not have shortage of funds. Work should not be stopped for small problems. He expressed displeasure towards the officers for not using the ‘Drishti’ app prepared by the department for monitoring and supervision of construction and maintenance works. Saw said in the review meeting that strict action will be taken against those who commit irregularities. At the same time, the government will also encourage those who do good work.
