Gujarat: Heavy rains lashed many parts of Gujarat on Sunday, disrupting normal life in some cities including Ahmedabad and Surat due to waterlogging. Palsana taluka of Surat district received 153 mm rainfall in just ten hours, which is the highest rainfall in the state. Officials said that due to heavy rains, traffic was affected due to waterlogging in low-lying areas of Surat, Bhuj, Vapi, Bharuch and Ahmedabad, due to which passengers faced problems in traveling on some roads and underpasses. According to the Meteorological Department, rain is likely to continue in Gujarat for the next four days.
Some roads and underpasses became inaccessible due to waterlogging at many places. Waterlogging increased the problems of the people at Shela area of Ahmedabad. The road collapsed due to heavy rains in Shela area of Ahmedabad. It can be clearly seen in the video how the road is collapsing after heavy rains. Sudden collapse of the road could have caused a major accident. Apart from this, the roads of Ahmedabad were submerged. Water flooded the roads of Ahmedabad. Trees were uprooted at many places.
