Retired sub-inspector swindled out of ₹40 lakh on the pretext of a government job

New Delhi. There are often cases of common people becoming victims of fraud in their desire to get a government job, but this time a retired sub-inspector of Delhi Police was trapped by a vicious fraudster. A case of alleged fraud of Rs 40 lakh in the name of providing job has come to light in Narela area of the capital Delhi. It is alleged that a person assured a retired sub-inspector of Delhi Police that his children would get a job as a section officer in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) and extorted a huge amount from him. After not getting a job and suspecting fraud, the victim complained to the police. Narela police station has registered an FIR on Thursday and started investigating the case.

40 lakh rupees given for government jobs for children

According to the information received, the retired sub-inspector from Delhi Police was worried about the future and employment of his children. During this time, he met a person who claimed to get a job in a government department. The accused allegedly assured that he could get their children appointed to the post of Section Officer in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation.

Believing the words of the accused, the former police officer gave Rs 40 lakh to get the job. However, despite paying the amount, their children did not get jobs. After this he suspected fraud and contacted the police.

The most shocking thing in this case is that the victim himself has served in the police department for a long time. Despite this, a case of giving such a huge amount on the alleged assurance of providing a government job has come to light.

Cheated to make section officer in EPFO

According to the complaint, the accused had claimed to get appointment to the post of Section Officer in the Employees Provident Fund Organization i.e. EPFO. EPFO is an important organization working under the Ministry of Labor and Employment of the Central Government.

Due to the stability, regular salary and social prestige of government jobs, youth and their families are attracted towards such posts. Taking advantage of this attraction, fraudsters try to trap people with claims like fake appointment, insider contacts and job guarantee.

However, appointments in government institutions are made on the basis of prescribed recruitment procedures and eligibility criteria. Giving a guarantee of getting a government job by taking money from someone can be a sign of fraud.

Suspected of fraud after not getting job

The retired sub-inspector had allegedly believed the words of the accused in the hope of getting better employment for his children. But when he did not get the job, he suspected that he was being cheated.

After this he complained about the matter to Narela police. In the complaint, the accused has been accused of taking Rs 40 lakh in the name of providing a job.

It is also to be investigated the medium through which the amount was given, what documents or assurances the accused gave regarding the appointment and whether any other person was also involved in this matter. Clear details of these aspects have not been revealed in the information available at present.

FIR lodged in Narela police station

Based on the complaint of the victim, Narela police station has registered a case of fraud on Thursday and started investigation. The most important question before the police is that on what basis did the accused give the assurance of getting a government job and where was the amount of Rs 40 lakh allegedly taken from him used.

In the investigation, the contact between the accused and the complainant, money transactions and claims made in the name of getting a job can be investigated. Apart from this, the police can also find out whether the accused took money from any other person on the pretext of getting a similar job.

However, the arrest of the accused or the involvement of any big gang in this case has not been confirmed yet.

New case of fraud on the pretext of government job

In cases of fraud in the name of getting government jobs, fraudsters often take advantage of people’s needs and expectations. Sometimes they claim to be recognized by government officials and sometimes they claim to have influence in the appointment process.

In such cases, a huge amount of money is demanded from the victim by assuring him of getting a job. Many times fake appointment letters, documents or other assurances are also used. However, the use of any such document in this particular case of Narela has not been confirmed.

The case of alleged fraud of Rs 40 lakh from a retired sub-inspector is an example of the fact that fraudsters can target even educated and experienced people.

How to recognize fraud in the name of government job?

Youth preparing for government jobs and their families should be cautious of people who claim to provide jobs without examination, interview or prescribed recruitment process.

Information related to recruitment of any government department should be obtained from its official website. If a person asks for lakhs of rupees in exchange for depositing money in a personal account or guaranteeing a job, it is important to verify from the concerned department instead of trusting his claim.

Information related to recruitment in EPFO can be confirmed through the official website of the organization. Giving money to an unauthorized person in exchange for a job can lead to financial loss as well as legal trouble.

Police investigation will reveal the truth

At present, the investigation of this case registered in Narela, Delhi is going on. The victim, a retired sub-inspector, saved his life.
