In the meeting, the retired daily wage earners staff, distressed by not inviting the delegation of the Federation for discussion on the memorandum given before and after the demonstration on March 4 regarding the 9-point demands of the Water Resources Department as per the assurance given by the Chief Engineer Water Resources Department during the demonstration and not taking a decision on the employee-friendly demand of including the service period as a daily wage earner before regularization in the calculation for pension determination and giving eligibility for full pension at 33 years, have decided to surround the office of the Head of Department, Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department located at Shivnath Bhawan in Naya Raipur on June 23 under the aegis of Indian State Pensioners Federation Chhattisgarh State. Representatives from Ambikapur, Jashpur, Raigarh, Sarangarh, Sakti, Janjgir, Bilaspur, Mungeli, Mahasamund, Dhamtari, Gariaband and Raipur districts participated in the meeting.

Anil Pathak, State Convener of Bhartiya Rajya Pensioners Mahasangh Daily Wage Retired Employees Cell, has informed that the officials of the department are not taking any interest in resolving the pending cases of retired daily wage employees of class III and IV appointed before 31 December 1988 in the Water Resources Department, due to which the pensioners and family pensioners of the senior citizen cadre are suffering huge financial losses. The head of the department, the Chief Engineer, does not have time to discuss the solution to the problems of the pensioners. Therefore, to attract the attention of the government for the fulfillment of the demands, it has been decided to surround the (department head) office located at Shivnath Bhawan on 23 June and hold a protest and all the responsible officials including the departmental minister have been informed about this. A call has been made to the affected retired employees from all the districts to join this movement.

It has been further stated in the released press release that the instructions of the committee constituted by the government regarding this matter and the decision of the Hon’ble High Court are being deliberately ignored by the Water Resources Department. The Pensioners Federation has been continuously drawing the attention of the department towards its demands and demanding the resolution of the pending demands of the daily wage retired employees, but due to the Water Resources Administration not taking any action on the resolution of the pending demands, there is a lot of anger among the retired daily wage employees of the state.
