Retired BSP employee commits suicide, police investigating

Durg. A tragic news has emerged from Durg district, Chhattisgarh. Rakesh Kumar Tiwari (60), a retired employee of the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), committed suicide in Hind Nagar, Risali, Bhilai. His body was found hanging from a noose in the balcony of his home on the afternoon of October 27th. This incident occurred in the Utai police station area. According to reports, Rakesh Tiwari first tried to cut his wrist with a blade, but when this attempt failed, he hanged himself. Police recovered a blade from the scene and have initiated an investigation by registering a case.

Feeling Loneliness After Retirement
Preliminary police investigations have revealed that Rakesh Tiwari was mentally disturbed and often felt lonely after retirement. He retired as a store manager at the Bhilai Steel Plant. According to family members, after retirement, he spent most of his time at home and often became withdrawn.

The family was together for Diwali.
The incident occurred between 1 pm and 3 pm on October 27th. Police stated that the son and daughter-in-law had spent time with their family at home during Diwali. On the day of the incident, the son had gone to drop his wife off at Raipur Airport. When he returned home, he found his father hanging from a noose in the balcony. He immediately alerted his mother and other family members, and the police were informed. Upon learning of the incident, police from the Utai police station arrived at the scene. The body was sent for a postmortem examination and the surrounding area of ​​the house was inspected. Police did not find any suicide note.

The deceased Rakesh Tiwari’s wife works at the Nagarik Sahakari Bank, Sector 2, Bhilai, while his son and daughter-in-law work in Pune. His daughter is studying at Khairagarh Music University. Deepak Diwan, a close family friend, said that Rakesh Tiwari was a calm person and had never been involved in any disputes or tensions with anyone. He said that after retirement, he often said that time was unbearable and that people rarely visited him.

Police officials stated that preliminary investigations indicate that the suicide was likely due to mental stress or loneliness. However, the case is being investigated from every angle. The exact cause of death will be confirmed only after the postmortem report is received. Local residents expressed grief over the incident, saying that Rakesh Tiwari was a very friendly and helpful person. He lived a peaceful life after serving at the Bhilai Steel Plant for many years. Police are now questioning the family to determine if he was facing any financial or personal difficulties recently.
