Response time of 108 ambulance service improved in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu Tamil Nadu: The Public Health Department of Tamil Nadu has released the latest figures regarding the state’s 108 emergency ambulance service, in which there has been an improvement in the response time of the service. According to the department, ambulance service is now available within an average of 6.14 minutes after contacting 108 emergency control rooms in big cities. This is considered to be a better performance than before.
If seen at the state level, the 108 ambulance service in Tamil Nadu is reaching the spot within an average of 11.22 minutes. Till a few months ago, this average time was around 13 minutes, which clearly shows that the speed of emergency health services has improved. This improvement is being considered important for providing timely treatment to patients in emergency situations.
The 108 ambulance service in Tamil Nadu is being operated by EMRI Green Health Services. A total of 1,353 ambulances are deployed across the state, providing emergency services in different districts and areas. Of these, 307 ambulances are equipped with life-support medical facilities, so that serious patients can get first aid on the spot.
Apart from this, 66 two-wheeler ambulances are also being operated to ensure access to inaccessible and hilly areas of the state. These special vehicles are used in places where normal ambulances are difficult to reach. This has made it easier to provide timely medical aid even in rural and remote areas.
The service system employs approximately 7,000 employees, who handle various tasks such as call response, driving, medical assistance and coordination. Continuous work is being done to operate the entire system in a better way, from the control room to the incident site.
Improvement has also been seen compared to earlier figures. According to the department, some time ago, after calling for medical help in Chennai, ambulances would arrive on an average in 8 minutes, while in other districts this time was around 13 minutes. Now the average time of this service has become uniform and faster across the state.
The Public Health Department says this improvement in response time has been possible due to technological improvements, better networking and increased number of ambulances. Reduction in time to emergency services plays a vital role in saving lives.
Experts believe that this improvement in 108 ambulance service is a positive sign for the health system of the state. Faster response time increases the chances of saving patients’ lives in accidents, heart disease and other serious conditions.
At present, the state government and the health department are working to make this service more effective, so that timely emergency medical aid can be available to every citizen.
