New Delhi: The 29th meeting of the working mechanism set up for consultation and coordination on India-China border matters to resolve the border dispute was held in Beijing. The Indian delegation at the meeting was led by Joint Secretary (East Asia) of the Ministry of External Affairs, and China was represented by the Director General of the Border and Oceans Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. In Wednesday’s meeting, the two sides discussed resolving the remaining issues, including resolution of the border dispute between the two countries, the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement. The statement said both sides agreed on the need to maintain regular contacts through diplomatic and military channels and maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas in accordance with existing bilateral agreements. This meeting is taking place at a time when both the sides are engaged in a war of words over Arunachal Pradesh. Following the troop clash in the Galwan Valley in June 2020, several rounds of military talks have been held between India and China.
