KOCHI: Residents of Eloor have raised a complaint after the remains of the set of Prithviraj movie ‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’ were burnt thereby allegedly affecting people in the area. Those who took contract to demolish the set, made in Eloor, burned the garbage including plastic and fibre despite the local residents warning against it.
There were seven piles of garbage. As soon as the first garbage dump was burnt, the local residents raised objection. However, the rest were also set on fire. The incident took place near St. Anne’s School on Thursday afternoon. According to reports, the school was on a holiday yesterday. Those who were in the nearby monastery suffered from the smoke.As the toxic fumes rose, some people, including children, experienced difficulty breathing. After being informed by the locals, fire force units from different places reached the spot and extinguished the fire. Municipal authorities have announced that strict action will be taken against those who burned the garbage.As the names suggests, key portions of ‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’ takes place in front of Guruvayoor temple, which was recreated in a property in Eloor as permission was not given for shooting at the famous Sree Krishna Temple in Guruvayoor. About Rs 3 crore was spent for making the set. After the release of the film, which had a successful run in theatres, the set was demolished.
