Relative turned out to be a human trafficker, had made a deal for the innocent child for Rs 7 lakh

Bhilai. Durg Police has solved the case of kidnapping of a 9-month-old innocent child. In this case, the police have arrested four accused from Patna, Bihar. While a female accused has already been arrested from Kondagaon in Bastar and sent to jail on judicial remand.
It is said that the child was sold for 7 lakhs to make him beg and all these accused were working as a gang. ASP Sukhnandan Rathore disclosed in a press conference at the Police Control Room in Sector-6 that the victim was lured by her relatives Sangani Bai and Santosh Pal and called from Durg to Kondagaon district on 20 June 2025. After this, she reached a rented house in Jaganpura, Patna (Bihar) with the accused along with her 8 months 25 days old son. After staying there for a few days, when the victim said that she wanted to return home, the accused made an excuse, but due to her insistence, on July 8, she was brought to Patna from Ara railway station to return to Chhattisgarh. During the journey, Sangni Bai and Santosh Pal made an excuse of bringing food items at Danapur railway station and taking advantage of the situation, got off the train with the child. The victim, frightened by the incident, did not tell anyone about the train being missed and being in an unknown place and returned to Durg and lodged a complaint at the women’s police station with her family.
The police resorted to mobile surveillance to trace the location of the accused. Also, 2 task teams were formed. The first team arrested the main female accused Sangni Bai from Kondagaon. The second team arrested the main accused Santosh Pal from Ara after an intensive search in Patna, Bihar. After this, accused Pradeep Kumar resident Kankadpara Jaganpura and Gauri Mahato were also caught.
Investigation revealed that the main accused Santosh Pal had sold the innocent child to Gauri Mahato for Rs 7 lakh. Out of this, he kept Rs 4 lakh for himself and gave Rs 3 lakh to Pradeep and Dr. Badal alias Mithlesh resident of Jhandi Nagar. During the arrest, the police also recovered the kidnapped child safely and handed him over to his mother.
