Bengaluru (IANS) | A shameful incident of a 65-year-old man raping a differently-abled woman from Mangaluru city in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district has come to light on Tuesday. The police have started searching for the accused who is missing since the incident.

Police said that the accused Raja Bhat is a resident of Surinje. A complaint has been lodged in this regard at the Women’s Police Station in Mangaluru.

The victim lives with her brother’s family. While her brother and sister-in-law were away at work, the accused barged into the house and raped her.

When the neighbors sensed something was amiss, they informed the victim’s family members. On coming to know about the rape, a complaint was lodged at the Surathkal police station. The case was later transferred to the women’s police station.

Police said that the accused Raja Bhat lived alone in a rented house. When he came to know that the disabled woman was alone in the house during day time, he planned and executed the crime. He is missing since the complaint was lodged. The inspection of the matter is going on.
