Ram Gopal Yadav preparing to go to Rajya Sabha for the sixth time, continuously present in Parliament since 1992

Uttar Pradesh: Senior leader of Samajwadi Party and one of the key strategists of the party, Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav is preparing to reach Rajya Sabha once again. His current and fifth Rajya Sabha term is scheduled to end on November 25. Earlier on Wednesday, he filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections. Ram Gopal Yadav, who has been active in important decisions related to the strategy and organization of Samajwadi Party for a long time, is also considered as the ‘think tank’ of the party.

Pro. Ram Gopal Yadav is the cousin of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. He has been a part of the Parliament continuously since 1992. Apart from being a Rajya Sabha member five times, he has also been an MP from Sambhal Lok Sabha seat once. Later he resigned from Lok Sabha membership and again moved to Rajya Sabha. Since then he has remained the main face of the Samajwadi Party in the Upper House.

The name of Ram Gopal Yadav is included among those leaders of Samajwadi Party, whose role was not limited only to electoral politics. He has also had an important contribution in shaping the party’s policies, organizational decisions and formulating parliamentary strategy. He is recognized within the party as a leader with long political experience who understands the functioning of both the organization and Parliament.

He has been holding the responsibility of National General Secretary in Samajwadi Party. Ram Gopal Yadav filed nomination for Rajya Sabha on 30 September. Samajwadi Party has also made Dhanraj Parimal Nathwani its candidate. Voting for Rajya Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh is proposed on 16 October.

The current tenure of Ram Gopal Yadav is going to end on 25th November. Earlier, by fielding him for another term, the Samajwadi Party has given a clear indication that the party still considers his experience important. If he reaches Rajya Sabha this time too, it will be his sixth term. With this his parliamentary journey will enter another phase.
