JAIPUR: A woman was allegedly beaten up, tied to a motorcycle and dragged across the village by her alcoholic husband in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district, police said on Tuesday. The husband was arrested after a purported video of the woman being tied to a motorcycle and dragged went viral on social media. Assistant Sub-Inspector Surendra Kumar of Panchaudi police station said the alleged incident took place about a month ago in Naharsinghpura village.
Premaram Meghwal (32) allegedly beat his wife and then tied her to a motorcycle and dragged her. The video of the incident surfaced online on Monday, following which police investigated the matter and arrested the accused, he said. The woman is currently staying with her relatives. She did not report the matter to the police. The accused was arrested on Monday for disturbing the peace, police said. Police said her neighbours said Meghwal was an alcoholic and often beat his wife. He did not even allow her to talk to anyone in the village. Kumar said the matter was being investigated.
