Raipur: Villager arrested for smoking ganja near canal

Raipur. A villager has been arrested for smoking ganja on the bank of a canal. Police had received reliable information through an informer that Sadhuram, son of late Jhalaram Ghritalhare, a resident of village Bhaisa, was smoking ganja alone sitting on the other side of the canal in his village. After informing the senior officers, an informer information panchnama was prepared under the direction of the station in-charge Kharora as per the guidelines received. After serving the notice, the raid was conducted by cordoning off the area across the pond in village Bhaisa at the place mentioned by the informer, where the accused Sadhuram Ghritalhare was caught smoking ganja in a can on the other side of the canal.

While taking further action, on searching the pockets of the spotted full shirt and grey coloured chadda worn by the suspect, three paper packets containing narcotic substance ganja were found in one of the pockets of the chadda (each paper packet contained ganja and a black coloured unused chonga, and a matchbox of a key company with a stick, and a black coloured chonga filled with half burnt ganja and a piece of white cloth) worth about Rs. 320/- were recovered in front of witnesses. A notice was given regarding any written permit or legal document regarding the recovered ganja, which was not produced and hence the seized ganja was seized from the possession of the accused as per the seizure slip. On finding sufficient evidence against the accused for committing the crime under section 27 of the Narcotics Act, he was duly arrested from the spot and after informing the family members, he was presented in the honourable court on judicial remand.
