Raipur Breaking: Ganja worth lakhs smuggled in Tikrapara, man and woman arrested

Under the campaign against drug abuse, Senior Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh has given necessary directions to all the gazetted officers and station in-charges of Raipur Police to trace the drug dealers and take action against them and curb it in a controlled manner. On which, the team of all the gazetted officers and station in-charges is gathering information about the drug dealers by deploying informers, patrolling and gathering information.

On which, under the direction of senior officers, the Tikrapara police team went to the said place and identified and arrested a woman and a man as per the information given by the informer. During interrogation, the man revealed his name to be Ashok Nahak, father Ramesh Nahak, age 35 years, resident of village Kharia, near Jagannath temple, police station Bherampur, district Ganjam, Odisha and the woman revealed her name to be Pratima Nahak, husband Ashok Nahak, age 30 years, resident of village Kharia, near Jagannath temple, Bherampur, district Ganjam, Odisha. On searching the white plastic bag kept with him by the team members, ganja was found in the bag. On which the team members arrested both the accused and seized 8.800 kg ganja worth about 80,000/- from their possession and crime number 545/24 has been registered against the accused under section 20B NDPS Act of Narcotics Act in Police Station Tikrapara.

Arrested accused-

  1. Ashok Nahak father Ramesh Nahak age 35 years resident of village Kharia near Jagannath temple Police Station Bherampur District Ganjam Odisha.
  2. Pratima Nahak husband Ashok Nahak age 30 years resident of village Kharia near Jagannath temple Bherampur District Ganjam Odisha.

In this connection, on 10.07.2024, Tikrapara Police Station received information that in the RDA under Police Station Tikrapara area. On the information of an informer that there is a woman and a man near Sector 5, near the office of Kaushalya Mata Vihar, who are coming from the Lalpur liquor shop towards Kaushalya Mata Vihar Nilgiri Nursery with ganja in a white sack for sale, Additional Superintendent of Police West Daulat Ram Porte, City Superintendent of Police Purani Basti Rajesh Devangan, and Police Station in-charge Tikrapara Inspector Durgesh Raote were directed to verify the information and catch the accused red-handed with ganja.
